We begin with a tour of your home or maybe focus entirely on your most challenging space. We discuss what you love and what you don’t love. We also talk about lifestyle, how you currently live in your space, and importantly, how you WANT to live in your space. As we discuss your most pressing challenges, we answer design questions and give ideas and guidance to solve these design issues. Our goal is to help you make your space more functional, with a cohesive flow that was enjoyable to create. We value your time. We want your trust.

Some homes were just not designed with ideal placement of furniture in mind. Yes, maximizing a beautiful view is very important, but what about living in the space? Where does the TV go? How do you create an auspicious flow for conversation and relaxation? These are real obstacles that homeowners often face. We help you make the best use of an awkward space that seems to serve no purpose. We help you determine the best placement of furnishings so that your space flows comfortably and comes to life. We identify what the room needs and what needs to be removed. Even after all these years, we’re still amazed at what we can do while working with items that you already own. But, beware! You may be so pleased with the results that you’ll want to do more!

Unflattering paint colors are one of the most common design mistakes I see. The right paint color changes everything. That beautiful color that you fell in love with in the paint store may be completely off in your space. I will help you learn why. We help you choose the best colors, with the correct undertones, to give your room the fresh and pulled-together look you want. And, we make sure it works with the fixed elements of your space. We’ll get it right the first time around!

We may determine best rug size, style, and best performing rug fiber content for your lifestyle. We can discuss media placement, where to hang art and the proper height it should be hung. We may discuss where and how to create a focal point in the room, or ways to improve ambient lighting in a practical way that will also dramatically transform the room using lamps, light fixtures or chandeliers. We provide valuable design ideas and solutions that will improve your experience of living in your home.

This is our hidden talent… a super power, of sorts! We help create compromise by developing workable solutions that suit everyone’s needs. It can become a subtle power struggle that is often not even about “the chair.” We get it! People want to be heard. We are here to honestly and fairly represent each individual in creating a space that everyone feels good about.

We will be able to address many design challenges and solutions during this time together, but this consultation does not include specific floorplan designs or any remodel materials selections. We will not select furniture or fabric, and there are no additional deliverables after the consultation. We urge clients ask questions, and take detailed notes that can be reviewed later. By the end of our design consultation, you’ll have a better vision of what your space ultimately needs. You can move forward and complete these design tasks on your own, or we can provide further design services like full service interior design, a ’la carte design service, or a more detailed Do-It-Yourself Plan.

We never hard sell clients to hire us for more services, but if you decide to sign up for our full-service interior design on the same day as the consultation, we will apply the entire paid consultation fee toward that additional service. That’s how much we believe in what we do and want you to experience the transformation that our interior design services make!
